Berkeley NLP is a group of EECS faculty and students working to understand and model natural language. We are a part of Berkeley AI Research (BAIR) inside of UC Berkeley Computer Science. We work on a broad range of topics including structured prediction, grounded language, computational linguistics, model robustness, and HCI.

- Jessy Lin and John DeNero won a best paper award at NAACL 2022 for their paper Automatic Correction of Human Translations
- Former Berkeley NLP graduate student Daniel Fried will be joining the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University's Language Technologies Institute
- Nikita Kitaev and Thomas Lu won a best paper award at ACL 2022 for their paper Learned Incremental Representations for Parsing
- The Berkeley Crossword Solver outscored all human competitors at the 2021 American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, in conjunction with Matt Ginsberg's Dr.Fill. Our paper titled Automated Crossword Solving was published at ACL 2022
